Rankings of Melbourne’s personal injury law firms

Seventeen firms assessed against a published, weighted scoring model. Every criterion, every weight and every score is set out in full so you can judge the ranking for yourself.

Rankings by claim type

Most consistent across all claim types

Average rank across the five category lists a firm appears in — not a separate score out of 100. Burt & Davies is included only where the firm acts. How this is calculated.

A weighted model, published in full

Each category weights the criteria that matter most to that type of claim. The weights are listed on the methodology page.

Built around the client’s questions

Fee protection, direct access to a senior lawyer, and whether a firm will run a contested claim to hearing — not marketing spend or firm size.

No paid positions

Firms cannot pay to appear, move up, or be removed. Corrections and updated information are accepted from any firm listed via the contact form.

Every firm assessed

17 Victorian personal injury practices are scored across the categories they act in. Each profile shows the firm's score and rank in every applicable category.

Common questions about these rankings

Can a law firm pay to be ranked higher?

No. Firms cannot pay to appear, to move up, or to be removed. There are no sponsored placements, affiliate arrangements or advertising positions anywhere on this site. Corrections and updated information are accepted from any firm listed.

How are the scores calculated?

Each firm is rated out of 10 against nine published criteria, covering the claims process, cost protection, senior lawyer access, contested-claims experience, maximising compensation, impairment assessment, Comcare capability, IME disputes and client experience. Each category applies its own weights, which always total 100, and the weighted result is expressed as a score out of 100.

How many firms are assessed?

Seventeen Melbourne and Victorian personal injury firms are assessed. Individual categories contain fewer firms where a firm does not act in that area — for example a transport-accident-only practice is not scored for WorkCover or public liability work.

When were the rankings last updated?

The current assessment was last reviewed in August 2026. Scores are re-checked when a firm supplies updated information, when a correction is accepted, or when material changes in a firm's practice come to notice.
